Wondering

by blackkie @ 2007-05-09 - 10:12:29

I am wondering why I never see anything good about Africa on British Media.

I am wondering why I never saw the things which I now see on TV when I lived in Africa.

I am wondering if the British media is just out to make the whole of Africa look terrible.

I am wondering why, when a British journalist visits a remote village in a poor nation, he prefers to just say that he went to Africa rather than say where exactly he went.

I am wondering if it is just a fashionable thing for British journalists to go and seek out the negative anywhere they can find it in Africa.

...still wondering

Hi Blackkie,

Nice to have you as a friend, and please stop wondering. Forget what the British media writes about Africa.
Africa is blessed beyond the world imagination. Have you ever wondered, why the british and other foreign nations came to colonize Africa??????????????, because, they found out that Africa is Unique. Up till date, a lot of Brits are here living in Africa, just to make money and go back to invest in their countries. Africa is blessed with production of Crude Oil, colourful resort centres, rich cultures, beautiful ladies. Talking beautiful ladies, in 2004, a lady from Africa precisely from Nigeria won the most beautiful lady in the world.
Blackkie, be proud to be an african, forget those horrid stories the british media writes about africa, is not that they dont like Africa, but the dont like the colour of our skin, that is the simple truth. In my next posting in my blog, i will write about Africa. Cheers.

Hey man.
I'm white, lived half my life in the UK, and half in Australia, and I love Africa. I've been to South Africa, Angola, Gabon, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia.
I know there are a lot of political problems, and humanitarian crises in various parts of Africa, but most of the bits I've been to have been so beautiful, and colourful and so unlike anywhere else, and the people I met have been amazing! I've always wondered why they say 'Africa' as though it is one country, but what can you do?
Anyway, just my opinion. I think you're right to wonder.

Thanks, I think it's a ploy by the British tabloid. It tends to make me believe that white people (or at least those who control the media) have a sense of insecurity in themselves hence the constant need to try and bring anything negative about other people.

Growing up in Africa, I never knew such hositility and negativity existed in Britain...I know better now. It was inconcievable to me that anyone would just want to run down another for no reason. Now I realise it's not for no reason...it's to make themselves feel better because of their inner feeling of insecurity.

I know that this is just my own way of interpreting the hostility of the media but I have a feeling I may be right.
